This is the promotional poster I created for my sister's first public show in Seattle. I went to a coffee shop and observed a wall of posters. I realized that the ones that stood out the best were the ones that had plenty of white space, minimal information, and faces (I learned back in design class that the first thing our brains recognize is a human face, followed by type). I matched the design to her cd covers, which are very simple, but bright. The lettering mimics the cd cases, which are hand stenciled. The bottom photo shows the poster in action, with Avena playing her music in the background! I was quite pleased with how they printed, even from Staples.
