PHOTOGRAPHY

This is a combination of photos from a recent photo job with twins. I wanted to show the progression by using a series to show how they interacted and never stopped moving! :)

BAND PROMOTIONAL POSTER

This is the promotional poster I created for my sister's first public show in Seattle. I went to a coffee shop and observed a wall of posters. I realized that the ones that stood out the best were the ones that had plenty of white space, minimal information, and faces (I learned back in design class that the first thing our brains recognize is a human face, followed by type).
I matched the design to her cd covers, which are very simple, but bright. The lettering mimics the cd cases, which are hand stenciled. The bottom photo shows the poster in action, with Avena playing her music in the background! I was quite pleased with how they printed, even from Staples.

CD DESIGN

I've been working with my sister to design and create her first cd's. Her goal was for the design to be simple and striking, and evoke a bit of a Native American feel. After trying several methods, I ended up creating a stencil and applying acrylic with a sponge brush to cardboard "re-sleeves" that are made of 100% recycled materials. It has been an extremely fun process. :) I submitted the design for the cd itself online to a short-run printing place.

SAVE THE DATE

I had the privilege to both take my friends' engagement photos and work with them to create a unique save the date. She wanted a sort of warm, vintage/classic look to match the look and feel of her summer wedding.

PROMOTIONAL POSTER

I created this poster for a local bakery, to promote their seasonal bread selection. It was a good learning experience to take their feedback and edit my designs accordingly.

MAGAZINE DESIGN

This project involved coming up with a new Seattle magazine concept, creating a masthead and a unified look throughout a variety of pages.

PRINT DESIGN

The following are pieces of print material I developed for a hypothetical French New Wave film festival. My favorite aspect of this project was developing the hand-done elements and trying to match the feel of the French New Wave genre, which is very individualistic and non-conformist.

WEB DESIGN

I enjoy web design because it challenges me to think analytically. Although coding intimidated me at first, I have come to realize that it is just requires a bit more structured thinking than other art forms (and some memorization). I learned CSS through this project (below) as well as began to grasp just how much planning it takes to create an easy user experience.

I designed this prototype web site for A1Sea, a non-profit company that promotes exercise as a means of blood sugar control for diabetics. The purpose of the site is to inspire diabetics to remain involved in water sports, connect with other diabetics in community and to inform them how to be safe while participating in exercise.

The Home Page

A prototype for a discussion board idea, where site users could compare notes and ask questions about managing their diabetes while doing different sports.
